It is who we are today and tomorrow!

It is not who we are yesterday, but on who we are today and tomorrow!.
“The reason why evil dominates is for good people to do nothing”
I don’t want to be self-righteous. I just don’t want to regret one  day that i did nothing.

Below is a letter i wrote to Miss Mela:

Ms. Carmelita J. Lazatin
Vice Chancellor
La Sallian Mission and Department of Student Life

Dear Ms. Mela,

I am Dominique De Leon, Information Systems Student of the De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, I am independently running as SC President and I would like to appeal to your requirement of “No failing grade” for the Student Council candidates.

I have already addressed my concern to the Comelec’s Chairperson. She professionally explained that it is a standard agreed and based on DSL’s metric of a Student Leader. Thus, they no longer have the authority to change such prohibitions.

My POLIGOV Professor stressed a lot of times that in a Democratic country, It is ruled by the people, of the people and for the people. “Our country should not have an educational discrimination for Presidency!”, she added. My Ordev Professor instilled to our minds that one of Benilde’s (our) core values is appreciation of one’s individual worth (regardless of intellectual attainment) and I admit that I was mediocre with my studies before I made a decision.

But recently, I realized that my past should not direct my future. It is not yet the end. I redirected my path and with that I would like to have a chance to share my vision and passion to the Benildean community by running as SC President.  For me, having restrictions like that does not project a “Learner-Centered Institution” by not giving us a chance.

I also believe that having a failing grade does not make you a poor leader and having no failing grades does not assure you a perfect leadership. I agree with Martin Luther King Jr. that  a leader should also be judged by the content of his Character, Competence and Ability to Lead.
Academic excellence is not enough.

Below are relevant information about me:ID No: 10853987

Remaining Terms: 4
CGPA: 2.7
Failed Subjects: 1 (DS-MATH)
Contact No: 09065260430

I will be hoping for your urgent and favorable response regarding my concern.
Thank You and God speed!

Respectfully,

Dominique De Leon

Hey, Doms, I agree. Everyone should be given a chance to serve (ib your case, our school). And to think only few are interested in running; your gesture to run already counts a point for you. Hope they listen to your appeal, and reassess. You have my vote already.

Yea. i hope that they would reconsider it.
Ms Melai has not yet responded.

Application for SC positions officially ended a while ago. (2:30pm)

But i’d still push through this cause.
Atleast for the next batch of Benildeans.
