How to share on FB, and Re-tweet button for WordPress.com

15 May

Having 1,000 views per day is enough reason for a WordPress.com blogger to click the “New Post” button.  Everyone likes making their post seen by as many people as possible. So, tapping on Social Media is one easy way to boost traffic, swift dissemination, better rankings and extended reach from viewers.Share on Facebook button is one sure way to do it.

Have you been jealous with these buttons?  I did. Unluckily, our open source software wordpress.com cannot read java scripts.  Thus, we cannot use those tools for our blog. That’s a L on a forehead for us. (L for Loser and not “Laban”.) But we still have to appreciate the free things, right?

Worry no more!  Akosiniko.wordpress.com proudly presents,  Hacking 101!
Hacking? Niko, you mean cheating!!??(:o)
of course not!

Don’t you know that hacking also means to be able to manage or manage successfully?. Oha Oha! (I do hope TJ Manotoc won’t notice this the way ABS-CBN fired GMA7’s Hologram) Peace be with you Kapamilya.

For non-wordpress.com users, you wont get much from here.
Going back, don’t be so overwhelmed. This is just a basic Html img and href codes I learned during First Year College.

These are the java script codes wordpress.com bloggers cannot use:

SHARE ON FACBOOK BUTTON CODES
<a type=”box_count” href=”http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php”>Share</a><script src=”http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share&#8221; type=”text/javascript”></script>

RE-TWEET BUTTON CODES
<script type=”text/javascript”>
tweetmeme_url = ‘<data:post.url/>';
</script>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js”&gt; </script>

Alternate RE-DIRECT LINKS  that we will use:

SHARE ON FACBOOK BUTTON
http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=&lt;url to share>

RE-TWEET BUTTON
http://twitter.com/home?status= <Status message + shortened link>

Here is a step by step guide for beginners.

1. Download an image of a retweet or Share on facebook buttons over the internet

2.Upload the photo and set the to ‘link’ to the Alternate RE-DIRECT LINKS.

3. Check the ‘Open Link in New window’ Checkbox  under
Advanced Settings’, and click ‘Update’.

4. Adjust desired image size, and ‘Insert’ it above or below you post.

Tips:

  • You can even personalize your  160×40 button as long as you link to the right Alternate RE-DIRECT LINKS..
  • You can use  link shortener for the twitter Alternate RE-DIRECT LINKS to maximize that 140 characters.
  • If you find it very time-consuming, using other blog Plaforms or buying a domain name is always an option.

Voila! You are now one of the elite wordpress.com users who have Share on Facebook and retweet button.

“Free things do have limitations, so optimize  it!”

    Thanks for this! Helped a lot.

    What I did was add a generic SHARE BUTTON in my widgets by inserting image (the FB share image) and linked it to my main blog.

    Then for every individual post I COPIED/PASTED the post URL and inserted it into the actual blog as INSERT IMAGE.

    Thanks!

    Interesting, it seems to work (I haven’t gone all the way through it yet) but when I click my Like button, I get a page that opens up (instead of a pop-up window) with the box to type my comment and the link to the blg post seems intact (it’s not entirely visible, and I haven’t tested it all the way yet) but…

    I was wondering if there’s any way to auto insert the blog post’s title in the title portion of the Facebook like page? I see those two portions covered in the “script” portion of the Javascript you mention at the top of this post, but is there any way to replicate that in this html so that people who do “like” my posts get more of a Facebook-like result?

    this was confusing for me – here is an easy way to do it

    • Go to bottom of your blog post and “add an image”
    • Add the a ‘share on facebook’ picture that you download and save to your computer from the internet
    • Under image properties, make sure it is set to “open in new window”, change the image url to http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=
    • Replace the with the address of the post (do not include the brackets)

    my blog is http://www.freshandagelessblog.com –go there to check out how this looks in the posts

    Of course, there are other probable causes of eyebags.
    Further benefits include vitamins E, D, magnesium, and calcium which thickens and also
    adds shine to hair. But adding to my astonishment when
    I rubbed my bald head I still see the dandruff coming out with text message:P to me.
