HARAPAN: ANC AND ABS-CBN PRESIDENTIAL FORUM

Tapos na ang “Harapan” before mag 1Am kahit actually naka “one line” lang sila.
Unlike sa Isang tanong, hindi na nag tilt up ang camera at pumapasok ang
nakaka-kabang sound effect after each questions.
Marami akong nalamang bago sa kanila, ako ay natawa, napapalakpak
at nainspire sa mga binitiwan nilang salita.

Mas gusto ko ang mga Live na tanong ngayon
sa Isang Tanong na mostly from UST and other Media personnel.
Kasi parang nasa gameshow lang ang 7 Candidates and the prize would be
the choice of all Filipino citizen na gising pa or mga manonood sa youtube kapag na-post na.
Wala nga lang Red Button na dapat pindutin sa pulpit  kasi isa-isa silang sasagot.

These Presidentiables inlcude:

1. Benigno “Noy-Noy” Aquino |||
2. Gilberto “Gibo” Tedoro
3. Eduardo “Eddie” Villanueva
4. Richard “Dick” Gordon
5. Joseph “Erap Estrada”
6. Nicanor “Nick” Perlas
7. Juan Carlos “JC” De Los Reyes

Absent:
1. Manny Villar
2. Jamby Madrigal

Siguro sana si Willie, si Edu or si Buboy na lang ang host para mas masaya. (lol)
Of course this was brought to us by ANC AND ABS-CBN NEWS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS
panglaban sa “Isang Tanong” ng GMA7.

Ano naman ang sunod na pakulo ng Media after nito?
Any way, i commend GMA and ABS for airing such shows like those.

And may we keep on choosing for the best candidate.
Choose Wisely!

In another first on Philippine television, eight presidential candidates will be facing off in a forum and before a live audience on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the UST Medicine auditorium in Manila.

Harapan: The ANC Presidential Forum will bring together former President Joseph Estrada, Senators Noynoy Aquino, Richard Gordon, and Manuel Villar, ex-Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro,  evangelist Bro. Eddie Villanueva, former Angeles City councilor JC De Los Reyes, and environmentalist Nicanor Perlas.

Ikaw? Ano ang masasabi mo sa naganap na Forum? May suggestions o comment ka ba?
Itanong mo na ngayon.

NUMBERED DAYS.

“So give us knowledge of the number of our days,
that we may get a heart of wisdom.”

Psalms 90:12

THIRD TERM SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS:
MWF-CLASS  STARTS @ 10:30AM; ENDS@ 4:40PM
TTH- CLASS STARTS @ 1PM; ENDS @ 7:30PM

These were the things i considered:
1. Availability of Slots
2.KKB Greenhouse (WED, 1-2:30PM)
3. Powerhouse Wednesday & Youth Gig
4. Gaps between my classes.
5. Free time to meet my fellow KKBs (Cell group)

This would be a new term for me. My class will start late and it will also end late.
I don’t know yet who my classmates are.
Most of us got different schedules due to slot availability.

Time really flies!
I only have 4 terms left.
I want my stay here in CSB to be a significant one.

A world without Heroes? (FILIPINOS)

Above is an article written by Abdullah Al-Maghlooth an Arab journalist who
commends the existence and the value of the Filipinos through out the world.

They can speak well in English, they have professional technical skills training and are highly competent individuals.

That is how the writer describes  the Filipinos.

We love to  see our blue-red-yellow-and-white colored flag on National Tv and hear people talk about our Country.

It usually happens during a Pacman fight which means zero-crime rate for even
hold-upers are busy cheering for their hero.

As Abdullah saw the value of the Filipinos on his perspective,

i wondered, why cant we see a positive picture of the Philippines?
Instead of leaving you mother land why not persevere on how we can be better.?

Why cant we just thank God for who we are,  keep your chin up
and be proud you are from the Republic of Philippines!

If others can see the goodness out of every Filipino.
Let us also love what we have.

Let us wake up everyday as if it would be the last
time you can really show you love for your country.

If we would not love it. Who else would?

Philippines: Live in it, Explore it, Love it!

THE ROYAL LINEAGE 2009

“I am the church. You are the church. WE are the church!” -Ps. Rich Witmer

G12 Conference | Cuneta Astrodome | November 28 & 29, 2009

Even just for the second day, I personally enjoyed the conference with the on-fire congregation from  different churches here in the Philippines that are represented by the National 12.
And here are bits of what i learned through the conference:

The National 12 represents the disciples that Ps. Castellanos selected here in the
Philippines that shall enact and pass-on the vision of G12.

Even language barrier and a 30-hour plane trip did not hinder the anointing and the vision
that were received through  the teaching of Ps. Ricardo Santiago from Columbia.
Another exciting part was His message was in Spanish, so he needed the
help of  his interpreter who also happens to be a Pastor. Yet it was just eye-opening.

I was touched by the message that the worship leader shared after before singing “History Maker”:
That we should never be familiar with presence of God. He can, and will do greater everytime.
And the best song that we can offer unto God, is the song from our heart.

People suffer because of lack of vision. A man who has one, never quits or surrenders from the fight.
They will laugh and discourage you because some people can not see the invisible thing that you saw.
They do not recognize yet the identity that are running through our veins.
THE ROYAL LINEAGE. THE BLOODLINE OF CHRIST.

If you want you and your household to seve the Lord.
Go check first:
1.How do you Speak?
2. Is there joy in your house?
3. Is there a spirit of gratitude and thankfulness?.
4. Is it submitted to Him?
5.Do you trust Him?

The Church is not about ourself, not about our leaders or pastors.
It is about those people who are lost.
People who at you’re position before you met Christ.
It is about others!

May we have not just pity, but the compassion for others that leads us to action.
The compassion or the strong desire that empowers us  help our neighbors.

WHAT IS G12 FOR?

nuestra_mision
Our mission is for every member to become a leader. We want to follow Jesus’ steps in everything that we do. The vision is based in Jesus’ life. Our mission is to raise leaders with the right character who would form others to develop the right character as well.

Every one of our cell groups consists in teaching a message of salvation for the new believers and to experience supernatural miracles.

We also have G12 team groups; this is a meeting where the leader teaches to his 12. These messages are no just of salvation but more of leadership and encouragement to continue in the Christian race.

Our mission is for the world to be evangelized. If we just focus in 12 people where we live, we will start raising leaders who will evangelize other 12 as well and so on. It’s very easy to understand, the important thing is to be willing to do God’s calling and persevere everyday of our lives.

Coffee Shop + playground = Cafe Noriter.

“Bye Ely! had a great time here. Magrereport muna ako sa Starbucks.” We both laughed as I waved  goodbye.  That was 11:45 Pm when I left  and they we’re doing their “cash-count” at Café Noriter- Taft before finally calling it a night.

It was after a regular formal-attire Monday when i  decided to stay up late sa school. While trying to feel the new metal yet comfortable chairs na nasa hallways ng Mutien and Duerr Hall ng CSB, I went out to look for a place para mag-aral and saw myself entering the narrow gate beside Tapa King along Estrada St.

I had great time and coffee while talking with a  forward-looking Manager (who is at her twenties) slash Barista who  graduated 4 years ago at TUP (Technolohical University of the Philippines) with a COM-SCI degree and a major in Management regarding how she started and how she was handles Café Noriter.

“Hindi ako ang may-ari nito, I just applied here as a barista after taking up a technical course in coffee making sa Tesda. Fortunately the owner was looking for a manager and that is how I got here”, She replied as she offered me  a honey-ahsgahs bread (I cant remember kung ano yon pero it was delicious).

She first worked at PLDT as a Call-center agent and she was one blessed woman to handle an embarking coffee shop, handle the Marketing concerns and lead a team of 2 other colleagues from Tesda.

Ely, just like any starting up companies has to consider and should have a broad knowledge with the 3C’s that Josiah Go (a renowned marketing expert) laid. They are the Company, Competition and the top most priority: The Customers.

As we know, there are clusters of coffee shop now and competition is very tight. A great challenge for a manager like Ely is how to bring something new to the market.  How you can make your actual buyers spread the word through satisfaction and increase your potential buyers.

For 110 pesos or a mug of Café Mocha, here are some of my randomly asked questions that Ely generously answered:

Q: San nyo naisip yang mga customer designed cups gallery?

A: Inadopt lang namin yan  from the first Noriter-Dumaguete. As of now, ginawa na naming syang 5 pesos kasi yung iba binabasta lang and they even put obscene words. Di ko nga alam kung pano gagawin namin dito (pointed her finger to a sack filled with hand-designed cups). We are even thinking of a competition for this month of December.

Q: What makes you different from other coffee shops?

A: First is yung environment namin. We want the customers to feel na nasa bahay sila. Sa Korea kasi when you say coffee shop, it is a place where in you can relax and just have a cup of coffee.  And from the Korean word “Noriter” meaning playground, we modified our interior design as we did with our first branch here in the Philippines: Dumaguete. Integrate coffee shop with playground, you have Café Noriter.  Second is yung coffee namin na hindi nalalayo sa quality ng leading coffee shops. We are using world class coffee beans and most of them are imported from other countries.  And lastly is the way we treat our customers and employees, we have promos that would keep you inviting friends and getting free cups of coffee.

Q: How much would I need to start my Café Noriter?

A: Rough estimation ko, siguro 6 Million you can now start your business.

Q: How were your Sales so far?

A: So far, so good. Before bukas-sarado kami. But as of now, madaming customers kapag Tuesday to Fridays and considering na hindi pa kami nagaadvertise kasi we are still gearing up to cater mass customers. We even have customers who are from UP, ATENEO and from other schools. Going all the way here to taste our coffee just because of  ”word-of-mouth”.

Q: So you do have reservations? (Looking at the “Reserved” sign sa table)

A: Ahh… actually, nirecommend lang yan ng customer namin and then we came up with a strategy. As of now you can rent or reserve a playground (I dunno what they call those Korean-inspired cubicles) for 500 pesos plus 2000 pesos worth consumable Noriter products for the whole day. Mas okay na yon kasi minsan nauubusan sila ng place lalo na kung marami sila.

These are my personal recommendations for the business:

  1. Advertising and promotions
    • Get their shop featured or reviewed at a  Campus Magazine
    • Flyers and Social networking Sites
    • Company Website
    • Sponsorship for school activities
  2. Invest in a Point of Sales System (sales and inventory management system)
  3. Invest with own cups (printed with LOGO)
  4. Keep on unlocking marketing strategies.

Café Noriter remains on its prime years.

It has more years to prove that it could stand up till the end.

Let us go wait and see.

P.s

Thank you Ely for sharing! I would be back every last Saturday of the Month for the free taste just like what you said. :) )

And ulitin ko di ako Spy :D

Godbless!

Change your mind and accept the truth!

“We are who we think we are. If we think  this nation can rise, then we could. But if you disagree, then you are right as well.”

We kept on blaming our leaders every after 6 years with the same problems because we kept on doing the same thing.

We prefer harvesting imaginary vegies over farmville rather than watching or reading the news about our nation.

We go grooving every Friday nights and dont even mind asking whether a Billion-worth project of a government matters or is needed.

We get our pointer finger stained with hard-to-remove  election  inks yet we let people give us a sad 500 peso  bill for it.

WE are citizens of the Philippines. A subject of this nation.

They say changing this Nation is like repairing a sinking vessel. Futile.

But we will NEVER give up.

Let us change our mindsets and accept the truth

that  this nation could only rise up

if we would work hand in hand till the end.

You really want this nation to rise?

Then do your part.

Register, Vote, Stay vigilant, Be a watcher & change your Nation.

Innovation on the Spot!

Sysdesi User Interface Critic

Venue: DLS-CSB, Augusto Rosales Theater

System Name: Excellentia Solutions

Rating:90%

This is a taxi management solution which enables the company to track their taxi anytime and anywhere with in the globe using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.

User interface was very attractive and aesthetically pleasing. The colors used  complements the logo and personality of the company. Using the web-based application while on full screen or F11 mode gives you an impression of playing  a high-end racing car game such as Need for Speed or Gran Turismo. It is Authentic, Energetic, Reflective and Open.  Just like Jim Allchin’s Windos Aero, a former release of Windows Vista that is intended to be  cleaner and graphically cooler than Xp and the late versions of vista

The application also uses Microsofts’  newest program: Silverlight with Adobe flash integration to capture, view and save photos directly taken from the webcam. You can record your taxi driver’s photo and biometrics without closing the browser and opening another application. All of those as if you were uploading a photo in Facebook.

System Name: CHIPS

Rating:91%

Chip features customer accommodation inside the Hotel premises through their iPhone/ I touch’s configured ip address to access the system. No more phone calls to the Hotel room attendant or an elevator trip going down to the coffee shop for a drink. With CHIP all those things are one touch from my iPhone away.

The user interface uses a minimalistic approach, it is one of its kind, out of the box and very user friendly.  Having a dark background allowed the bright-colored icons arranged on a horizontal manner to stand out.  The homepage includes: Title on top, menus and the large Icons. Just like IBM’s best practice, they model things visually with those 8 large icons that represents different menus and shortcuts.  Text are readable with the orange and white combination. With that case,  a glass of tequilla, a room reservation and a request for laundry delivery would be just one click or touch away. An edge significant feature of this interface is its iPhone/itouch’s  home screen. It is a graphical list of available shortcuts that a customer can do inside the Hotel during accomodation.Say good bye with hard to click links , unreadable text and long scrolls. Plus, there is no more need to adjust your Iphone’s browser setting because this web-based application adjusts on its own . With those logos, even a grade school would know that the cup image means drinks, the clock means time and tv means media. Very user-friendly and it broadened the ability of C# with it’s Adobe flash appeal .

System Name: Business Operation Solutions(BOS)

Rating: 85%

BOS is a Computer based application that will be used by Human resource, Operational and strategic Managers  for monitoring employees, forecasting demands and maintaining  detailed orders from companies.

A black and gray theme gives the application a professional but traditional system look. Before I could fully rely on this system I have to make sure that I have read the manual so that I would know how each menu functions.  Considering the homepage after log-in, there are no shortcut keys for accessibility and all functions have to be mouse over to the menu before being selected.  The system used limited images like printer, diskette, delete and other more images for icons so users have to rely on text on some parts.

They could have used the blank homepage as shortcut links for actions that are usually done by the user for cycle time reduction.  On the left side are date, time and all pending messages or request from local area networks or other departments. They could make animations that would catch the users attention for important messages or deadlines rather than a simple text on the right side. Pop out boxes are too small and you have to scroll it down just to view the entire entry. Simple and usable.

Vii Systems

Rating: 80%

Vii system boasts an easier way of having your photos printed with out going personally on a Kodak store.

Now with less effort and more value on services, you can just create an account, upload photos, pay them online and they will deliver it right before your door steps. It also is a traditional website with bit of flash integration. A tribute-to-Cory theme worked with the company’s logo and color(yellow). Menus are not that much readable but a stroke or a drop shadow will do the trick.  Uploading photos are like the centuries old Friendster browse-and-select photo uploading technique. And it can only accommodate 3 photos simultaneously. That could take  a long time using that manual technique. They could at least try java uploader and be able to upload photos as easy as copying it in to a flash drive. They should also consider large-scale printing where in the  browse-and-select photo uploading technique would just annoy customers.  They could also flash easy steps on how to use their system on the homepage.

Facebook addicts. Are you one of them?

They call us the instant generation. A generation where every moment of your life,  from the moment we wake up up to the time we break up are all posted over the World wide web. People are getting inclined or even addicted to it.  Do you realize it? Can you live a day without checking if someone tagged a photo of you or your crush posted something interesting?  You might be already abnormally tolerating it. Think. Think. Think.

Here are some guides for you to see if you are a facebook addict.

Don’t deny it :P

MANILA – Facebook users beware. Psychologists are now probing a new kind of addiction called Facebook Addiction Disorder (FAD).

Psychologist Dr. Michael Fenichel, who has published numerous writings on FAD online, describes it as a situation in which Facebook usage “overtakes” daily activities like waking up, getting dressed, using the telephone, or checking e-mail.

“The amazing thing is that, like cellphones, nobody seems to notice the vast amount of time and energy – at work, at home, and now while on the move – people are devoting to Facebook. It has become a given,” Fenichel writes in an online post titled “Facebook Addiction Disorder- A New Challenge?”

FAD could be classified under the more broad “internet addiction disorder” or internet overuse.

Academic papers have already posed theories on internet addiction and social networking addiction, and even less, cellphone addiction.

“Like most activities, moderation and integration are key. Those that may seriously label and treat FAD as a behavioral addiction will clearly need to use context in determining if a behavior has become demonstrably harmful to overall social, work, or face-to-face interpersonal efficacy,” Fenichel added.

You are a Facebook addict if…

According to Joanna Lipari, a clinical psychologist at the University of California, Los Angeles who was interviewed for a CNN report, here are some signs that you are addicted to Facebook:

1. You lose sleep over Facebook. When using Facebook becomes a compulsion and you spend entire nights logged on to the site, causing you to become tired the next day.

2. You spend more than an hour a day on Facebook. Lipari said it is difficult to define how much is too much when it comes to Facebook usage, but that an average person need only spend half an hour on the site.

3. You become obsessed with old loves or exes you reconnect with on Facebook.

4. You ignore work in favor of Facebook. This means you do not do your job in order to sneak time on Facebook.

5. The thought of getting off Facebook leaves you in cold sweat. If you try going a day without Facebook and it causes you stress and anxiety, this means you need help.

According to the same report by Elizabeth Cohen, Senior CNN Medical Correspondent, Facebook addiction is not yet an actual medical diagnosis.

However, the report notes that several therapists in the United States have noticed a rise in the number of clients who get hooked on social networking, to the point of social dysfunction.

Facebook fun

Facebook, launched by the world’s youngest billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, has over 300 million users worldwide, half of whom log on to the site every day.

Further, about 2 billion photos and 14 million videos are uploaded on various Facebook pages a month and about 6 billion minutes are spent on Facebook a day, worldwide.

According to Willis Wee, founder of the social media and marketing blog Penn-Olson.com, this is twice as much time that people spend on Google.

The global social networking website allows users to post and share content (like photos, links, videos, and notes), play casual games and applications, and interact with friends and family through messaging and chat. abs-cbnNEWS.com. With reports from CNN.com.
